It’s not everyday that I see reviews on products for feminine hygiene. For some reason, there’s still a stigma associated with talking openly about certain products or conditions and even very normal things, such as periods.
We shouldn’t be ashamed of discussing the best options for women’s health, even more for something as common as a period. I sometimes wonder if I can trust a brand or a product based on how comfortable their voice sounds when talking about it. We all should be free to talk openly about the common things our bodies do.
That’s why I was interested to try Hannah Pads. Being a woman, I know how much money I waste on sanitary pads all year round and how much this hurts the environment. Having a suitable option that is environmentally friendly and also not full of chemicals seems like an absolute essential!
I tried the Organic Cotton Reusable Cloth Pad Medium with Extra Grip, as I have a very mild flow. Upon opening the pack, I was really surprised about the fabric – super soft! And I got the cutest little pink colour.
Before trying, I wondered – what exactly is a Hannah Pad? These medium-size hannahpads are all-in-one, reusable menstrual pads that are healthier on the body, reduce landfill waste, and save you money. Made from certified organic Cotton that is unbleached and non-dyed, which makes it safer to sit against delicate skin, they are especially ideal for those who have sensitive skin issues with store-bought disposable liners (my case).
With a special TPU waterproof coating on the inside of the outer layer to provide secure protection against leaks, hannahpads have a higher level of absorbency than disposables, are more comfortable, and their unique double-stitching holds the absorbent layers and edges of the pad intact for durability.
Hannahpads will last for 2-3 years, depending on personal use and care so that’s a big plus from buying the disposable ones all the time.
Upon using it, I felt like it absorbed it very well and had no issues keeping it in place. It was comfortable enough to use it through the night and change it in the morning and it did not cause unpleasant odours.
What about cleaning them? You don’t have to wash or rinse the pads immediately after changing. It is recommended that you wash and soak them within 12hrs after use. This means all you simply have to do after a change is fold the pad, pop it in a zipper bag hannahpad pouch until you can deal with it.
I won’t change back to disposable pads after trying Hannah Pads as I do think this is the best option that is good for you and the planet. Have you tried reusable pads before?
